Last night’s discussion at Michigan State University after watching a portion of the Spike Lee movie “X” was led by Dr. Austin Jackson of MSU and myself (speaking firstly).

Relating to Malcolm X’s life, the discussion delved into “Political Islam,” the importance of the Nation of Islam on the Islamic legacy in America, and the problem of cultural chauvinism within the American Muslim community.

It is a series of interviews with hip-hop heads who discuss their lives in the context of a few songs that matter to them.
