Horrific video shows dead Afghan civilians killed by US military

Most of the 90 Afghan civilians killed in this US military attack were children.  The video shows corpses in a mosque.

If this so-called “War on Terror” is meant to deter recruits for Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, civilian bloodfests such as this only help with recruiting for the likes of Bin Laden and Mulla Omar.

Very sad on many different levels.

Is this “Collateral Damage” or War Crime against Afghani Children?

"Collateral Damage" in Afghanistan

Sharafuddin Sharafyar, Reuters, 8/22/08

HERAT, Afghanistan (Reuters) – U.S.-led coalition forces killed 76
Afghan civilians in western Afghanistan on Friday, most of them
children, the Interior Ministry said.

The coalition denied killing civilians. Civilian deaths in military
operations have become an emotive issue among Afghans, many of whom
feel international forces take too little care when launching air
strikes, undermining support for their presence.

“Seventy-six civilians, most of them women and children, were
martyred today in a coalition forces operation in Herat province,”
the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Coalition forces bombarded the Azizabad area of Shindand district in
Herat province on Friday afternoon, the ministry said. Nineteen of
the victims were women, seven of them men and the rest children under
the age of 15, it said. (MORE)

News of US Marines attempting to spread Christianity in Iraq after Qur’an shooting incident, what next?

News has just surfaced of US Marines passing out coins of a biblical verse to Iraqi Muslim.

This news comes off of the heels of the infamous Qur’an shooting by a US solider in Iraq, which made international headlines.

In past, US soliders have shot into mosques (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6496898/) and given protection to Christian missionaries (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owCXbDVTLRE), who try to convert Muslims.

US military commanders should be wise enough to constantly counsel our troops that in the Middle East, perceived slights and insults to Islam will galvanize resistance groups and unite those who have conflict with each other against the US military.  I’m sure that Shi’i groups like the Mahdi Army, Sunni groups like  the Mujaahideen Battalion and Sufi insurgent groups like the Sufi Squadron of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani will have new recruits after this one, not to mention this being fodder for the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Not a good strategy for success in a region where the people already view America as an occupying force.
