    As Salaamu Alaikum,
We have two days to win delegates in Michigan for Barack Obama. It is CRITICAL that all DEMOCRATICALLY voting Muslims vote Tuesday January 15 and vote “UNCOMMITTED”. Write ins for Barack Obama WILL NOT COUNT! Please carefully review the info below and rapidly forward this email to every Michigan Muslim that you know. Remember, Michigan has the most Muslims in the nation.! DON’T BE DISENFRANCHISED!
    Michigan Democratic primary, 2008
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 2008 Michigan Democratic primary is scheduled to take place on January 15, 2008 to determine the number of delegates in favor of a candidate at the National Convention. However, due to the state scheduling its primary before February 5, the state was stripped of all of its delegates and as such they may not be seated at the nominating convention[1]. That said, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that the primary could go ahead as scheduled, Delegates will be awarded per the popular vote, with a candidate needing 15% of the vote to receive any delegates.[2]

    Pre-primary events
Presumably due to Michigan’s breach of the DNC rules, Barack Obama, Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, and John Edwards pulled their names from the Michigan Democratic Primary ballot. [3] On December 10, 2007, the Michigan Democratic Party issued a press releasing stating that the primary would be held on January 15, 2008, and that the Democratic ballot would contain only the following six choices: [4]
    • Hillary Clinton
    • Christopher Dodd
    • Mike Gravel
    • Dennis Kucinich
    • Uncommitted
    • Write-in
The press release also urged supporters of Joe Biden, John Edwards, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson to vote “uncommitted” instead of writing in their candidates’ names because write-in votes for those candidates would not be counted.[4] As of January 10, 2008 Dennis Kucinich is the only nominee campaigning in the state[5].

  3. Dawud,
On behalf of the Focolare community of Detroit I would like to express our deep sadness at the passing of Imam WD. The news has brought an even greater desire for our continued relationship between our communities. You can count on all our unity. Many of us were blessed to have been present for Imam’s speech in Detroit just recently. We all thank God for the gift of WD.

  4. Thanks for stopping by the college. We talked about you afterward and I think overall everyone had a enjoyable experience and only good things were said. Thank you for taking your time stopping by.

  5. Salaam,
Regarding the upcoming visit of Leon Panetta of the CIA (not sure which Dearborn Masjid?) on the (very possible) night of LaylutulQdr:
Take this event/night on a positive tone, NO COMPLAINING ALLOWED, maybe Mr. Panetta will learn more than we could ever realize. Invite him to spend as much of the night as possible, to observe the devotion/patience/steadfast examples of everyone, from the entire community, children, women, men…encourage him to participate in suhoor. Provide him with some comfy slippers and a fluffy pillow, a siwak too!! You don’t know what his answer will be if you don’t ask! (p.s. Sorry for bugging your blog! There was no other way to pass on this comment via the CAIR Michigan info provided on the CAIR National website, i.e, ya’ll need a website!)
